We carry out a thorough examination of all your teeth and gums to ensure there are no pre-existing or potential problems, as well as the rest of your oral cavity, tongue and your lymph nodes and your jaw joints. We may also take radiographs (x-rays) if required to help us further diagnose. It is important to visit the dentist even though you don’t have any remaining teeth, so as to check your tongue, cheeks and other soft tissues for early detection of Oral Cancer. Routine examinations help to diagnose any potential problems early, such as cavities and gum disease which is now on the increase. Early detection reduces the chances of pain, infection or potentially more serious dental treatment. At the Broadway Dental Studio, our main aim is prevention and we recommend our patients to follow dentist recall recommendations and seeing the hygienist regularly if deemed necessary.
BeforeGross Staining on Lower Front Teeth |
AfterAfter Seeing the Hygienist |
Plaque is a major risk factor for gum disease. Our friendly hygienists, Davida & Kelly, will gently remove all plaque and tartar build-ups from those areas that are hard to reach with your toothbrush.
With time, staining builds up on our teeth, making them loose their shine and lustre. If you are a smoker or drink tea /coffee /red wine drinker you might find that this happens even faster. Davida will remove any superficial staining and polish your teeth to get them looking brighter and back to their natural appearance.
She also gives her patients specific advice on how to keep their gums and teeth healthy and demonstrates effective techniques to follow this advice at home.
BeforeBEFORE – Broken Amalgam ‘Silver’ Filling |
AfterAFTER – Replacement & Repair with Composite Filling |
We offer both silver Amalgam and ‘white’ Composite fillings to repair broken and decayed teeth. Modern Composite fillings have gained more popularity as they are a tooth-coloured and therefore less visible. We have an array of shades to match your teeth as best as we can so that it blends well into your tooth.
Composites are also used for cosmetic improvements of your smile by changing the colour of your front teeth or reshaping teeth such as chipped teeth. We can re-contour your teeth minimally, hence avoiding the need for more destructive veneers.
Patient requested for change of his amalgam fillings to composite tooth coloured fillings.
Older amalgam fillings may ‘stain’ the tooth around it that is difficult to mask even with close matched ‘tooth coloured fillings’ . Something to bear in mind when you first have a tooth filling.

Crowns
Crowns are often required to repair cracked, decayed or root canal teeth so as to strengthen and protect the remaining tooth. They are shaped like ‘natural’ teeth and hence can also be placed to improve the appearance of teeth.
We offer different types of crowns ranging from gold, silver, porcelain or a combination depending on your preference and the location of the tooth in your mouth.
Inlays
These are used on the biting surface of a tooth, made of either gold, composite (tooth coloured) or porcelain (high strength). Made by the dental laboratory technician they are a precise fit.
Onlays
These are also made my our dental laboratory technician. Onlays are very effective in repairing broken or root canal teeth so as to protect the remaining tooth and preventing further cracks and breaks. These are usually made of gold or high strength porcelains which are made to match your remaining tooth shade.

Gum disease is a hidden disease that is often left undetected till further signs and symptoms materialise. These can be drifting or moving of your teeth with time, bleeding gums (either during brushing your teeth, eating or spontaneously) , bad breath or teeth appearing looser. At times you may notice swellings or pus around the edge of your gums.
Most times your dentist will pick this up by checking your gums with a special probe called a BPE probe or may notice loss of bone on your dental xrays. The earlier that gum disease is picked up, the better the prognosis for long term health of your teeth and gums. It will prevent loss of your teeth which can occur if the disease has spread extensively.
At times, we also get gum disease around dental implants. This is called peri-implantitis and it is important to have these treated very early to prevent loss of your dental implant.
If you or your dentist is concerned about your gum health you can contact us via phone, email or the online phone via our website to arrange a consultation. Any recent x-rays will be helpful too. Full mouth gum charting will be carried out, along with dental x-rays as required. You will be given a full treatment plan and a report sent out after the appointment as well.
Our treatment is per session rather than quadrants as we find that some patients with mild periodontal disease have fewer isolated teeth that can be treated in 1 to 2 sessions.
Our specialists are at the practice Mondays at present and carry out both non surgical and surgical treatments. Emphasis is on oral hygiene
Periodontal treatment consultation is £150
Periodontal Debridement £375 per session
BeforePatient wasn’t happy with the appearance of her front incisors |
AfterPatient had teeth whitening followed by front Incisor Veneers |
The treatment involved teeth cleaning and teeth whitening to brighten her teeth first and then Porcelain Veneers to enhance her smile. The dentist also carried out a trial stage to ensure that the new teeth suited her and if there were any adjustments to be made prior to the final veneers being fitted. She was very happy with the end result. Veneers can be made of composite or porcelain. These are placed, usually on front teeth, to improve their colour/shape and alignment of teeth. It would be best to book a consultation with one of our dentists first to check what would be best suited for your teeth and smile. We also carry out Trial inserts so you can see what the final appearance will look like before they are finally made.

AfterReplacement with a Bridge |
A bridge is one of the treatment options that can be used to replace a missing tooth. It uses the neighbouring tooth or teeth to anchor support for the missing tooth or teeth. Therefore, the neighbouring tooth must be strong enough and have good bone support for this to be successful.
There are different types of bridges, depending on the neighbouring tooth, the position in the mouth and the ‘bite’ as well. Your dentist would be happy to discuss this with you.
These can be made to the highest standards of aesthetics with a comfortable feel.
Acrylic Partial Denture
Flexible Valplast Dentures
Chrome metal dentures
Dentures are used to replace a missing tooth or teeth by taking dental impressions and making a customised device to fit by our dental laboratory.
Besides the traditional acrylic dentures, we offer dentures of high strength acrylic, thin metal dentures (Cobalt Chrome) and the new VALPLAST dentures. Valplast dentures are more flexible and hence can fit more snug on your gums and teeth. They are also thinner and so patients find them more comfortable. Please ask your dentist for more information.
Depending on the nature and progression of gum disease, treatment is tailored to include oral hygiene instruction, scaling or even surgery.
Oral hygiene is very important to keep gum disease at bay and to prevent progression. Effective brushing and interproximal cleaning between your teeth can help reduce gum inflammation, bleeding and gingivitis.
At times, the dentist or the hygienist may have to use electric or manual scalers to gently remove larger deposits of tartar or plaque to help. If left untreated, your gums can get even worse and lead to periodontal disease. This usually presents with loss in bone height that supports your teeth with your teeth eventually getting looser. In these case, depending on severity, you may require multiple appointments of scaling to help stabilise your gums helped with your oral hygiene routine at home.
Our hygienist charges are from £80per session (£85 Saturdays).
Periodontal treatment consultation is £150
Periodontal Debridement £375 per session
At times, damage to the nerve area called pulp is irreversible. You might have had a number of different symptoms such as raging toothache, pain on biting, a swelling, increasing sensitivity or at times nothing at all but a chance discovery on an x-ray.
Contrary to what you may have heard, root canal treatment is a relatively painless procedure.
Once the diagnosis is made, we anaesthetise the tooth well. The infected pulp which contains the tooth’s damaged blood and nerve supply is all cleared effectively. This is further cleaned throughout, shaped and filled to ensure a re-infection doesn’t occur. This is a very technique sensitive procedure and requires skill and time to ensure the root canal system is cleaned as thoroughly as possible. At times multiple appointments may be required to complete the treatment.
Our practice has the latest Nickel Titanium Rotary files and Electric Apex Locator systems to make this treatment more efficient. In certain cases, the tooth may require a specialist to tend to it due to the complexity. We always act in the best interest of our patients, and can arrange an appointment with a dentist more specialised with root canal treatments. Our prices start at £295 depending on complexity, the number of canals and the position of the tooth in the mouth.
In most cases, we recommend a crown or an onlay to prevent the tooth breaking down further. This increases it’s life span.

We carry out non-invasive dental treatments such as composite bonding
Example A
Ms M T was concerned about the gaps on her front teeth and also the chipped edges where the teeth had worn. She wanted something very natural so no one would really notice. We carried out a shade check and mock up to see what end result she would prefer and once she was happy she was booked for a longer single appointment for composite bonding on all front 6 teeth. She loved her smile and that we could blend the composite to her natural teeth shape and shade of colour!
Example B
Mr. G.P had his teeth whitened and his upper left 2nd incisor had a darkened composite build up from when he had fractured it a year ago. We carefully removed and replaced it with a bleach whitening shade by composite bonding in 1 sitting. He was very pleased
Example C
G.C. attended the practice not happy with his smile and gaps between his teeth. He works with the public so didn’t want braces nor invisalign. Due to his young age and also generally good oral health we decided to carry out non-invasive composite bonding with Venus composite for him. We also carried out teeth whitening for him before this. He was extremely pleased that we didn’t have to touch his natural teeth with a drill!
Example D
Mr. B.D. was worried that his lower incisor tips were wearing down and the enamel had worn down so severely that his second layer, dentine, was shining through. We carried out impressions and articulated his study models. Then after careful evaluation we built up the worn incisors keeping his natural biting forces in mind. He was given a biteguard as well to wear at night to prevent further wear.
